Frequently Asked Questions

What is the profile of a GFG member?

Our membership is made up of working women, retired women, younger females, stay at home moms, and professionals.  We have beginner membership - members who have started golfing in the last 2 years; social or recreational membership for those that play for fun and are not that concerned about the rules, and about half of our members have a BCGA Handicap Membership - a full club membership with an RCGA Handicap card they renew each year..

How good a golfer do I need to be to join?

Golf Fore Gals offers golfing opportunities for all playing abilities. With full length golf courses, executive length, par 3 beginner courses, 9 or 18 hole playing opportunities, you can choose what works for you.

Beginner Membership Golf Fore Gals has introduced a unique beginner program that will introduce women to the sport of golf in a comfortable, organized environment; you will learn to golf in one year. This membership includes, 5 one hour lessons, rules and etiquette seminar, 6 green fees in one of our beginner leagues, the book titled 'Naked on the First Tee', and your Golf Fore Gals social membership. Through this program you will play with other beginners and build friendships on the golf course.  The program takes place in all GFG Regions.

Social Membership will find enjoyment in golfing recreationally without a RCGA handicap card.  You will have access to most events, but you do not have a handicap factor.

BCGA Handicap Membership is a full GFG membership that includes a RCGA Handicap card.

Once you become a member, you will build a profile on the membership roster.

How do I register?

Simply fill out the on-line membership application form as completely as possible.. As soon as your registration form is filled out and submitted with credit card payment, you can go back and login to the website and begin registering for events. If you would like to speak to someone before you register to answer any questions, please call Diane Fru at 604-533-9886.

I don’t like to use my credit card online. What are my options for payment?

First, this website has encryption software by Thawte that protects your credit card information. However, if you do not want to pay by credit card you have the option of opening an account.

A GFG account works as follows. When you fill out the on-line membership form, select payment type cheque. You will not receive immediate access to the membership area of the site but will have to wait until your cheque is received. With your membership fee you must send a cheque to be deposited into your account. You can view your account balance by going to the account management area of the website. Each time you book an event; the cost will be deducted from your account. When your account is low, you must send another cheque to be deposited into your account. At any time you can begin using your credit card.

The Golf Fore Gals account can be used when registering for any events in any Region.

Am I required to attend all the events?

Golf Fore Gals prides itself on the flexiblility it offers its membership. You can choose whichever events you want to attend, whatever suits your preferences and schedule. It is recommended that you select executive or Par 3 courses when you are a new golfer.

How long is the season?

Our season runs from March 1st through to October, with special non-golf events offered during the off season. Your annual membership is valid from the date of purchase for one year.

There are many events to choose from, including twilight and weekend events every week.

How do I sign up for events?

After filling out the membership form, you will use the username and password you have chosen to access the website. This will take you to the calendar of events in the membership area of the site, for your Region.  On the calendar are listings of upcoming events. The events are listed by coloured icon and golf course. Each colour represents the type of event - example, lessons, tee times or tournaments, and the golf course where the event is held is abbreviated on the calendar. By clicking on the listing, a window will appear that describes the event and allows you to register. Follow the procedure to register for the event or close the window to go back to the calendar.

After you register, an email will be sent confirming your booking. This email will also provide you with the cancellation policy for this booking. If you do not receive a confirmation, your registration did not go through or your email address was filled out incorrectly on the sign up form.

At any time you can view the events you are registered for by going to 'My Purchases'.  This is a list of all the events you are registered to attend, and a record of all your transactions for the last year.

How do I cancel an event?

You can normally cancel an event between five and seven days prior. Some events may be less. Go to 'My Transactions' to view your upcoming events and here you can also cancel the event. If the event does not have a 'cancel' icon then it is past the event cancellation date and you must call Diane Fru to see if a late cancellation is possible.

Note:   When you cancel a booking, your money will be refunded into your account not your credit card. The next time you book an event; the charge will be taken from the balance in your account. You can view these transactions on 'My Purchases'.

What is the refund policy for membership?

You have 15 days to receive a full refund.

How do I get a handicap?

If you are interested in getting an RCGA handicap card and handicap factor, be sure to register as a BCGA Handicap Member. An account will be set up for you to post and view your handicap via the RCGA website. Attending a handicap seminar is a mandatory requirement for this type of membership.
